Formula 101 – #5 Using Data Series

All the tutorials so far concentrate on the utilization of quote fields. From this tutorial onward, the focus will shift to the display and analysis of data series. The ability to embed data series in quote formulas sets apart NeoTicker quote formula from the rest of the applications available today. By mastering the use of data series within quote formulas, you will be able to summarize more information than you can ever imagine.

Supporting More Data Feeds and Brokerages

We’ve received many emails and phone calls everyday about supporting specific data feeds and brokerages. While many are very polite, some are more forceful as many expressed that they need such support in an urgent.

We understand that you want us to support your brokerage and data feed as soon as possible, but you need to understand that supporting a new data feed or integrating with another brokerage’s order interface is not an easy task. A lot of planning and design is required to make the new integration works smoothly.

As mentioned not too long ago, we have successfully added QuoteSpeed as one of the supported data feeds.

We are working on a number of data feeds and brokerage supports currently. We’ll keep you posted whenever there is any new development in this area.

Formula 101 – #4 Relational Operators, Boolean Operators and Decision Functions

There are times that we want to display values based on certain decision making process. For example, we may want to show the size of the gap if the market gap up, and zero if that is not the case. This is a job for the relational operators, boolean operators and decision functions.

When we need to derive information from the basic quote fields, we use functions.

Title changes to the Formula 101 articles

We’ve received quite a number of feedbacks about the Formula 101 articles. Many wanted a title to be associated with each tutorial so that it is easier for them to refer to in the future when they need to refresh on the subject.

So here it is, I have changed titles of the first two Formula 101 articles to include the topics they are written about. The future ones will be named similarly.

Formula 101 – #1 Introduction to NeoTicker Formula

Many users find that the NeoTicker formula is a very mysterious thing. On one hand they have seen very short and sweet formula examples printed in magazines, in our user group, and from our support staff answering their questions. On the other hand they are very frustrated when it comes to the point that they wanted to write up something that do what they wanted to do.

The reference is just too technical and not really written for someone whose very first programming environment is NeoTicker. I will try to bridge this gap here with a series of articles so that more users can benefit from using the formula language.
