Import Trading Records from J-Trader

The Trade Simulator has the ability to import trade records from various sources. One way in utilizing this tool is to import your own trading records from your brokerage into Trade Simulator. That way you can use the System Performance Viewer to review and analyze your trading performance.
(Lawrence – NeoTicker 4.20 Build 13 or higher is required)

J-Trader

J-Trader is a very common order entry platform among many brokerages. For the latest releases of J-Trader, there is a function to export trade records directly from within. The one I am using has a limitation of having just 5 trading days of history. I am not sure if that is the standard or if that varies from brokerage to brokerage. In general, however, it is a good practice to export your records every few days to avoid loosing your precious real-time trading data.

The Import Settings

Here is a screenshot of the Trade Simulator’s Import tab.

Tradesim JTrader Setting

For my particular usage, I set the symbol to ES #F so that it matches my real-time data feed symbol with no further translation. If you trade multiple instruments, then you have to disable that particular option.

For my J-Trader, it somehow reports the trades using GMT. Since I track all my trades using Eastern Time, I have to offset the time stamp by 360 minutes.

The Import Process

The import process is pretty simple. All you have to do is press the Import button in the Import tab (as shown above in the screenshot) and then choose all the files you wanted to import from within a directory. To select multiple files, use the standard Windows combination of Shift and Control keys.

Once the import is done, NeoTicker will report the number of records processed successfully.

(In case you are experimenting with your own import settings, then it is a good indication that your settings may not be correct if no record is imported.)

Summary

I find it invaluable to save all my trading records and have them reviewed at least every other week.

It is also fascinating (and educational, I think) when I see my entries and exits on the chart.

Give it a try.
