In-house server room relocation and expansion

We are in the process of relocating our in-house network servers, data servers, etc. into a new location within the office. And it turns out that everybody wanted to expand the # of servers, so we’ve made adjustment to our plans to expand the server room.

That in turn will affect our data uploading capabilities (i.e. backfill servers) in the coming 2 weeks in case someone unplug the wrong router within the network. (I hope not!)

Any abruption to backfill data should be short and timed so that it will only happen during off peak trading hours.

Howto Use NeoTicker as Simulator

This article shows how to use NeoTicker as simulator with data from our backfill server, the symbol used in this example is ESD_F. (Note: For all available backfill symbols refer to Suppoted Symbols post.) The example replay data for 1 day at regular speed.

There are two parts to run NeoTicker simulation:

  1. Download data
  2. Run sim-server

I will detail these two processes step by step below.

Grid Optimization – Kicking It Up a Notch!

As we are working on the next major release of Grid Optimizer, we listed out various areas that we would like to see improvements on,

– database component that is in use in version 1 is not as efficient at 200K+ records
– how to squeeze out more horse power from each computer during optimization as the current generation of computers are much more inline with our concept of parallel computing
– OLE automation is missing

All these items, however, require us to make architectural changes. Thus we’ve finally decided to go for a version 2.0 release as oppose to staying with the version 1 naming.

I like what I see so far from the prototypes. I am sure you will all like the coming release of Grid Optimizer.

NeoTicker Roadmap 2010 Update

The last NeoTicker 4.20 build was released for several days now. We are now on full speed to work on various features we have wanted to put into NeoTicker for a long time.

Several new features are in beta testing right now for the first release of NeoTicker 4.30 –

1. Ability to reduce memory footprints on nested indicators
2. Several drawing tools related new features and advancements
3. An edge that many people, both NeoTicker users and other traders, have been asking about – due to my frequent posting in several trading forums in real-time

As usual, I keep asking for more changes and improvements after testing the new version while those requests are not in the specifications I made. I suspect that my programmers are not that happy at the moment. =)

Mail Server Issues Resolved

Just an update to let everyone knows our issues with junk mails and messages are resolved.

Thank you everyone for being patient and understanding during the time we were struggling with this kind of unavoidable problems in this Internet age.

Edit: There were several days during this period where many of our emails are completely removed at the ISP end due to the flooding of incoming emails. Should you find that we may not have responded to your messages for this very reason, please resend your email.

Mail server issues

We receive tons of junk mail all the time. And tons of junk posts in forum and blog site everyday. It is normal everyday business for us to clean up these messages and posts.

But this time its different – Someone obviously bombed our domain with thousands of messages and posts at the moment. Not sure if it is malicious attack or just bots exploiting potential weaknesses.

We are dealing with the issue now and it will delay our response. Sorry for the inconvenience.
