NeoTicker Roadmap 2010

compassMany users have contacted us asking what we are going to do next with NeoTicker. Here is the roadmap.

Going into 4.30 Release Cycle

Initially we planned to release version 4.20 builds in parallel to version 4.30. After several in-house build releases, it is obvious that the upgrade path and release cycle will get very confusing. Thus we now plan to release 1 to 2 more updates for version 4.20 to take care of some reported issues, we will then move onto 4.30 release cycle.

Initial phrase of 4.30 releases will be new features that are additions to the current NeoTicker, thus users can update to version 4.30 without worrying about potential architectural changes that break their custom setups.

When it gets to the point that we are rolling out the new features that include architectural changes, we will decide by then if we are going to name that version 4.40 or keeping the version at 4.30. Users will know clearly from our release notes that if we are going to include code that is potentially unstable.

New Features Planned

We have planned many new features,

1. new time frame manager
2. new charting mode beyond time driven and bar driven method
3. new nested indicator architecture that uses a lot less memory
4. new custom drawing tool plug-in methods
5. new drawing tool features
6. and many more

There is also some exciting new tools we have developed for years and it is about time to include that into NeoTicker.

Existing Features Requiring Revisions

Due to changes in the financial market, there are many functionalities within NeoTicker that has to be consistently revised. For example, the latest ruling by SEC to modify the option symbology simply turn the existing option data processing algorithms upside down. Like all other financial software company, at TickQuest we can only react to the changes and update our software when the situation requires.

Currently, we know forex industry is facing potential huge changes to margin requirement, and that, in turn, caused major revision of software APIs across many forex brokerages already.

Another area where changes is taking place is that many mergers have happened since 2008 and that results in brokerages going from handling specialized markets into all-in-one brokerages. These brokerages are merging their online order placement software and APIs, forcing 3rd party software vendors to update their software to maintain compatibility.

Other Issues

We have development plans outside of the NeoTicker platform going forward.

One of the most concerned issues by retail clients are directly supported brokerages. Many new releases are expected from this area in 2010.

We are also working on other potential direct connections. We will release these new order servers once we are satisfied with their performances during our in-house testing.

End Note

If I missed something you wanted to know, drop me a line in our forum.

p.s. Some users noticed that we’ve spent a lot of effort in upgrading the website using an architecture that is very flexible, thus speculated that we are going to release a lot of new things soon. Great detective work guys!
